What's Up?
The fires have been put out, the kids are gone, the weather is finally feeling like winter and Christmas is just around the corner. That sums it up fairly well here.
Oh yeah, good news on the work front. I've bitched about my job on a few occassions, mostly about the lack of concern for the employees that the owner displays, but it's not all that bad. I'm in a pretty good position at my job. My boss is the controller/office manager, so she has influence with the owner and I have influence with her. I don't get everything that I want, but I have managed to get a few changes made here and there. A few months ago I gave my boss some info about extensions classes at the University of California Riverside for a Human Resources Management certificate. I've been wanting to take these classes for a long time, because I see myself being an H/R manager someday and this is a step in the right direction. I've been going to school for the last two years now, but it's taking a really long time and the classes are just for general ed. My boss said she would talk to the owner to see if he would approve sending me to the classes and paying the tuition. It's not a huge amount of money, but it is more than I can afford to pay right now. I finally heard from her this last Friday. She spoke to the owner and he agreed to pay for the classes. I'm very happy.
What else? Oh, I'm thinking about buying a Toyota Prius. I have a Camry right now, it's nice and the gas mileage is okay, but I've wanted a Prius since I first heard about them. We saw one at the L.A. Auto show last month and I got a chance to sit in one. It's a hybrid, so I'll still have to go to the pump, but it would be half as often as I go now. I haven't test driven one yet, I'm still waiting and researching before I go and do that. I just want to be happy with the car if I do get one.
