My Favorite Men
Here in no particular order are some of my favorite men. I enjoy watching these guys whenever I can.

Antonio Banderas
Ever since Desperado I have loved watching him. There's something about a man wearing all black with a bunch of guns shooting stuff up that turns me on. He has that Latin Lover thing going on with the accent and dark puppy dog eyes. Those eyes can be very intense and I think they have the ability to make someone get very hot. Nuff said.

Kiefer Sutherland
This guy has come a long way. I remember the first time I saw him was in the Lost Boys movie. He was a young kid playing a vampire. He's had many roles since then, but his best ever is on 24 as agent Jack Bauer. I love him in this role because he is decisive, hard-hitting and no-nonsense. He does what needs to be done no matter what the cost. It's that bad boy attitude he has that makes him so sexy. Again, a guy in black with a bunch of guns shooting stuff up.

Bono of U2
I have two CD's that I listen to on a regular basis. Both of them are from U2. I would have more but I'm frugal and don't like to spend money on myself. Anyways, I love his energy. I mean, just look at him. He's deep, and thoughtful and passionate. There's a lot more to him than you can see and I respect him. I get fired up when I listen to him sing and my favorite song is Beautiful Day. I sing along with him whenever I'm in my car.

Check out the above link for U2 to read about 25 ways that they have changed the world. It's pretty awesome.

The Rock
What can I say? This is my boy! I loved his smack talking ways when he was in the WWE. I used to watch him on Smackdown and get so into the show that it would affect my mood for the night. If he won, it was a good night, if he lost...well then my husband had a bad night. The best thing about watching him wrestle was that he wasn't encumbered by clothing. Hee!

I'm so glad that he has turned to acting and I've gone to see every movie so far. I wouldn't say that he is a good actor, but he puts a lot into it and I enjoy watching him. He's got a pretty face and a great body. You know "eye candy". He is my type of guy; tall, dark and handsome.

You can see him in his new movie Doom which will be in theaters in October. I'll be there for sure.

Keanu Reeves
Ah sweet Keanu. Another pretty face. Loved him in Speed and became a fan after that. Imagine how thrilled I was when The Matrix came out. Repeating my theme here of men wearing black shooting stuff up. I've heard critics say he can't act, but I've never gotten that impression from him. I like what he does and how he does it. His last movie was Constantine and I really enjoyed it. His voice and the way he delivers his lines is what does it for me.

Gary Oldman
Meet the king of acting. This man is brilliant. He has played a multitude of characters so flawlessly that you don't even recognize him in the role. He is my most favorite actor and there have been times when I was watching him in a movie and did not know that it was him until the ending credits. He is a very talented man; besides being an actor, he also composes music and has writen and directed a movie of his own called Nil By Mouth. His best role was in The Professional in which he plays a crooked cop. There are some intense scenes in this movie where you get the feeling that the man is not quite right.
I like watching his face when he acts. He has the ability to say so much through his expressions and somehow that draws me in. I'm just fascinated with him. He is intense and mysterious and even though he is older now, I still find him extremely sexy. Unfortunately, Hollywood has failed to recognize his tremendous talent.

Hugh Jackman
What a hunk! He's cute and handsome and boyish and sweet and sincere and funny. He reminds me of my husband. He's got this huge smile that lights up his whole face and he exudes warmth. He just seems like an all around good guy. He can also be very intense and dark like his role as Wolverine in X-Men. He even performed as Curly in Oklahoma. That is a show I never would have watched except for the fact that Hugh was in it. He's just that good.

Gerard Butler
I first saw him in Dracula 2000 which is a different twist on the story of vampires. He plays a seductive and sexy Dracula. He has also appeared in Tomb Raider The Cradle of Life and most recently he was in The Phantom of the Opera. My husband and I went to see this movie four times because we are such fans of the Broadway play.

I like him because he is rugged and manly. His Scottish accent is great too. I'm still checking this guy out but I like what I've seen so far.

Of course, these are just men I enjoy watching, but my all time favorite man is my husband. He is just my type, tall dark and handsome. He has a great sense of humor, but he can be intense at times and he does the bad boy thing really well too. All of these men above remind me in some way or other of my husband.

The Kids
My husband and I have been taking care of our niece and two nephews every other weekend for the last two months to help while their mom is working. The kids are great but they can be a obnoxious sometimes, especially the two younger ones which are 10 and 11 years old. This weekend, they got on my nerves a little bit. When I woke up Sunday morning these two were right there at my door waiting for hugs. Cute as they are, they are not the first things I want to see after just waking up. I went to the restroom and when I came out they were there. I should have taken a shower right away, but I got up late and needed to make breakfast (seems the kids used a whole gallon of milk the day before so they couldn’t eat cereal). Sheesh!

I had an audience while I was brushing my teeth and washing my face. They were looking at me like I was some marvelous creature (or scary morning monster). I finally shut the door and hung out in the restroom with my cat for a while until I finished fixing my hair and face for the day. The rest of the day they were around me off and on. When I was making breakfast they were both in my small kitchen hanging out and watching. I put my niece to work on the eggs and had to kick my nephew out. He would wander in once in a while, like he was checking on our progress or something and basically just got in my way. Being that I don’t have kids, I’m not entirely sure what to do. I tend to get frazzled by this kind of thing and I try very hard not to lose patience with them. I guess it’s time to get “motherly” with them and start delegating tasks and chores to keep them busy. From what I hear, they wash dishes and clean up at home, so I think I’ll have to let go of my control issues and let them do that when they are with us.

I want their visits to be enjoyable, but I don’t want to feel annoyed with their presence.

Salsa!
Last night was our second Salsa class. I wasn’t sure if this was something I could do, but I have to admit that I’m pretty good at it. Dancing is something I’ve always wanted to learn and I’m very excited about it becoming a part of my life. Of course, I imagine in my head that I’ll be dancing like the pros, but you never know.

My Tardy Excuse
Dear Employer:
Due to the thunder and lightening that my neighborhood experienced all night, my alarm did not go off this morning and I woke up late. My backup alarm (which is my cat that always wakes me up at 5:00 a.m. every single stinkin’ day) was also disabled, as he was hiding under the couch terrified because of the storm. I hope this will be considered a valid reason to excuse me from being late, as it was an act of God and not due to any irresponsibility on my behalf. Thank you very much.

Fortunately I did arrive to work on time this morning, so it was unnecessary to use this excuse. Not that I would, because I don’t really need too but I thought it was funny and wanted to share it with everyone because this actually did happen. It’s kind of sad that my cat is my back-up alarm, but he’s very effective at getting me out of bed because he just doesn't shut up until I do.

Past and Future
I am an only child. My parents moved to California from Michigan while my mother was pregnant with me. They drove across the U.S. with all of their belongings in a trailer and a polydactyl cat aptly named Six Toes. My parents took up residence in an apartment in Pasadena and I was born about two months later. We lived in this place until I was about 3 years old. After that my parents moved all over Southern California and only stayed in each place for maybe six months or a year. I remember once counting all of the times that we moved when I was a kid and came up with 20 different addresses. I've never really understood why we moved so much. Neither of my parents were in the military, nor were they criminals either. Eventually, when I was 8 years old they bought a house and we lived there until I was 12. That's when my mom left and my parents divorced. I went to live with my mom when I was 13 years old.

Because we moved so often, my schooling was disrupted. I remember one time at a new school, the teacher set me down at a desk and gave me a paper and crayons to write with. She told me that the kids in the class were working on multiplication and division and she wanted me to practice them too. She wrote the first one out for me and told me to finish the rest. I must have been about 6 years old at the time and I had no idea what she was talking about. The school I had just come from wasn't that far along yet, so what she wrote down looked like a foreign language to me. I remember feeling frustrated and confused and I began to cry because I didn't understand what she wanted me to do. At another school I was made fun of because I couldn't spell the words that the class was learning. My report cards always said that I was slow, that I couldn't read or spell and that there was a lot of room for improvement. These sort of experiences were with me all through school and I always remember feeling uncomfortable in a classroom.

I never went to college. I took a couple of classes but nothing really useful. It took me years to realize why it was that I didn't like school. The instability of my childhood has affected me as an adult when it comes to my education. I wish now that I had gone to college and obtained a degree of some sort. I wish that my parents would have made my education more of a priority too, but I'm sure they had their reasons for doing what they did. I do know that somehow I've managed to overcome my educational challenges, and because of having to always try to catch up with everyone else, I'm better at picking things up than others may be. I'm good at multi-tasking and need to be challenged or I get bored. What was bad for me in school has turned out to be useful to me in my work environment. Still, I don't feel I'm where I should be at this point in life, but now it's all up to me and I know I have to stop looking at my past and try to focus on what I can do right now to better my future. That may be the most difficult thing for me to do yet.

Cat Pictures

This is Yoshi's favorite position.

He looks like he's praying. My husband thinks that he looks like he was resisting arrest and tasered.

Here he is eating wheat grass that I buy for him from the grocery store. It only costs $1.69. The same grass at the pet store sells for $3.99. Lucky for him it's so cheap at the grocery store, or he would never get it at all.

Moving On
I rode the wave of my last post for about as long as I could and now it’s time to move on. I have to admit, that was my best post ever and I’m left wondering what to write about next. I hope I didn’t raise expectations too high because unless something extremely embarrassing happens in the near future I won’t have anything that funny to write about. Of course, I could write about some of my husband’s embarrassing moments, but his are few and I like sleeping indoors. Thanks to everyone that left comments, you guys are funny as hell.

My Most Embarrassing Moment
Recently, an Islands restaurant opened up close to home. My husband and I used to frequent another Islands restaurant that was farther away and we were thrilled when we found that one would be coming to us. We had eaten at the previous Islands for years and I was very accustomed to the layout of the place.

We went to the new restaurant soon after it opened. There was a little bit of a wait, so I went off to use the restroom. They were located in exactly the same place as the other restaurant we used to visit so I had no problem finding them. I walked in and found a stall and started doing my business. Soon afterwards I heard someone come in and became very surprised to hear two men talking. I wasn’t quite finished yet, and my mind was racing trying to figure out what was happening. Was it the cleaning crew? Did the men walk into the wrong restroom? OMG! Was I in the wrong restroom??? To my complete shock and horror I came to the realization that I was sitting in a stall in the men’s restroom and there were two men inside. I was flabbergasted. How on earth did I not notice that I was in the men’s restroom? There was a friggin’ urinal in there for goodness sakes and I didn’t even see it!

I quickly finished up and just stood there in the stall for a moment still not sure what to do. I had to leave. I opened the door and shielding the side of my face I walked past the two men towards the exit, muttering that I couldn’t believe I was in the men’s room. You should have seen the looks on their faces. One of the men had this goofy smile on his face, almost as if he was pleased to find me in there. The other just stared after me. I ran into the women’s restroom which was right next door so that I could calm down and also to wash my hands. I was so shocked and embarrassed, still not believing what I had done. I realized the reason why I went into the men’s room instead of the women’s was because they had switched them around. In the other restaurant the women’s was on the right and the men’s on the left. Not so in this restaurant.

After washing my hands I hurried back to my husband who was still waiting to be seated. I went up to him and said “We need to leave now”. He gave me a quizzical look and asked why. When I told him what I had done, he just looked at me and rolled his eyes. We both laughed about it and stayed to enjoy a nice meal. To date this is my most embarrassing moment.

Yay!
Good news, the laptop is back earlier than expected and I can go back to my regular weekend routine. Woo hoo! This is a three day weekend, hubby and I both have Monday off. We bought a new BBQ and are planning on breaking that sucker in today. We also have our niece and two nephews this weekend so there will be plenty of opportunities to fire that baby up.
Last night, or should I say early this morning the cat woke me up at 2:00 a.m. again. He was thirsty and wanted his usual drink from the tub faucet. Normally he wakes me up around 5:00 a.m. which is closer to the time I get up to get ready for work. The other night though, I had to get up at 2:00 a.m. to use the restroom. He must have thought that this is a better time for him to get his drink, so he has been waking me up at that time ever since. I'm wondering about two things right now; who taught him how to tell time and how do I stop him from doing this every night for the rest of his furry life. Why do cats have to be so damn neurotic?
