As you know I have a cat. We've had him 12 years and if you know anything about cats, they tend to have certain things happen to them that they sometimes cannot control. Like barfing up hairballs on your carpet. This freaks my husband out considerably, mostly because he usually ends up stepping in the mess before we knew it had happened. So the last time that did happen, I was told that this was the last cat that we would ever own and that I was forbidden to get any more. Right....
So last night, he comes home and shows me a picture of a kitten that he took with his cell phone. One of his co-workers lives in a complex where this kitty lives and she is trying to find a home for it. He was abandoned and is now fending for himself. Poor, skinny, dirty little kitty. He shows me the picture. Why? I ask myself. What is he trying to do to me? Is this a test? So I ask him questions like, is he friendly?
The answer, nod of the head and an Oh yes, he purrs a lot. Great.
So what color is he? I think he's white but it is hard to tell with all of the dirt and grime on him. Arghh...feel my heart breaking for the kitty. Oh and he has yellow eyes.
Sigh. Did you tell her we would take him?
I said we would talk about it. (he's already made up his mind, he wants the cat. Big softy)
So I'm thinking about it and trying to rationalize bringing him home. He would need a complete vet work up which would cost at least $300.00. Worming, ear mites, vaccinations, anti-biotics, flea & tick bath. Then there's Yoshi to think about. After our other kitty died last year, he seemed to come out of his shell and became a real character. I don't think he would ever talk to me again if I brought this kitty home.
So I tell my husband, you can't show me that picture and expect me to do nothing about it. You do realize that Yoshi is going to be pissed about this. He'll never talk to me again.
So later that night, my husband is thinking up names for the kitten. I think he settled on Sebastian Constantine. That's what I get for letting him name the cat. I'm more of a Fluffy, Muffy, Kitty type person. It still remains to be seen if the cat is coming home with us. I'll let you know.
